Course objective:
- Learn about the history of money and banking
- Learn about the process of money creation in both the commodity money system and the fiat money system
- Learn about monetary policy in the current monetary system
- Learn about financial crises and the deficiencies of the current monetary system
- Learn about alternatives to the current monetary system, namely "free banking" and crypto-currencies
- Learn about the blockchain technology, crypto-currencies and decentralized finance (Defi)
Mode de contrôle des connaissances :
One final 2-hour closed-book exam.
