Biography

Dorothée GALLOIS-COCHET is an Full Professor of Private Law at the Université Paris Dauphine - PSL. She teaches a wide range of courses in the field of business law, and is very involved with her students. She is currently in charge of the Master 1 Business Law and Taxation of the Master of Business Law at Université Paris Dauphine - PSL.

Dorothée studied management and law. She graduated from the HEC business school (1995), holds a DECF (Diplôme d'Expertise Comptable et Financière), a DEA (Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies) in business law and a CAPA (Certificat d'Aptitude à la Profession d'Avocat – Bar Exam). She obtained a doctorate in law from the Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas in 2002, defending a thesis on Le droit au bénéfice des associés (profit distribution to members of corporations and partnerships). She passed the national competitive examination for the agrégation in private law in 2005, and has been a university professor since September 2005.

Her research work covers many areas of corporate law, including simplified joint-stock companies (SAS), regulated liberal professions, the transfer of company and partnership shares, partners (voting rights, meetings, distributions to partners), the powers and responsibilities of managers, as well as corporate governance and sustainable governance. She is the author of numerous articles and chapters in collective works, and in 2019 she published an individual book entitled “Les sociétés du secteur libéral de la santé” (ed. LGDJ, 728 p). 

Dorothée has been an elected member of the Board of Directors of Université Paris Dauphine - PSL since December 2024.

Dorothée was Director of the Licence Sciences des Organisations (LSO) department at Université Paris Dauphine - PSL from May 2020 to May 2024. In this capacity, she was an ex officio member of the University's Board of Directors and Education and Student Life Council, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Paris Dauphine International (the University's London campus). Previously, she was head of the Licence Mention Droit (Bachelor in Law) at Université Paris Dauphine - PSL and of the Law-Management Double degree track from 2013 to 2021. She was also a member of the LSO Department Council from 2014 to 2022 and a member of the University's Scientific Council from 2016 to 2020.

Dorothée has been a member of the Conseil national des tribunaux de commerce since April 2020, and a member of this body's ethics commission. She was also a member of the Haut Conseil du Commissariat aux Comptes (H3C), the independent public authority in charge of the control and supervision of the auditing profession in France, from June 2016 to June 2022. In this capacity, she was a member of the Board and a member of this instance body’s in charge of the disciplinary sanctions and fee disputes.
