Nicolas Belorgey publishes on capitalism

A researcher from IRISSO publishes: “Registering Everyone: The Battle over Digital Identity in India,” published by CNRS Éditions.

The identification of individuals is now more than ever an economic and political issue. Once carried out through paper records, it is increasingly performed via the Internet and through databases compiling our personal data. These databases seem to fulfill the ambitions of scientists, policymakers, administrators, and entrepreneurs, but they may also turn into a nightmare involving the exploitation of our private lives and the emergence of a particularly dangerous surveillance society in authoritarian political contexts.
