Conference: the French Biodiversity Act, ten years on
About the event
Date : Friday 6 November 2026 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Location : Salle Raymond Aron
Organized by : DRJ
Ten years after the adoption of the French Act for the Recovery of Biodiversity, DRJ is holding a conference assessing how the law has been applied, on Friday 6 November 2026 at Université Paris Dauphine - PSL.
Which principles and concepts have actually been put to use, and how? Conversely, why have some of the innovations introduced by the Act been left aside? The conference takes this original angle, looking as much at what was thought through and applied as at what remained unthought.
Scientific direction
Mathilde Hautereau-Boutonnet (Aix-Marseille Université), Judith Rochfeld (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) and Béatrice Parance (Université Paris Dauphine - PSL).
Programme
- Environmental principles, thought and unthought: non-regression, ecological solidarity, habitability, and the “green” principle of the Chinese Civil Code. Chaired by Fabien Raynaud, Conseiller d’État.
- Environmental concepts, thought and unthought: the effectiveness of the common heritage of the nation and its extension to soil.
- Ecological damage, thought and unthought: collective benefits, systemic damage, allocation of damages and preventive action. Chaired by Xavier Tarabeux, First Advocate General at the Cour de cassation.
