After completing the 1st year of the Master’s Degree in Notarial Law, which specialties for the 2nd year at Université Paris Dauphine – PSL?
Students have the option to continue in the 2nd year of the Master’s Degree in Notarial Law (single track), then prepare the DESN (French post-graduate notary diploma).
The Master’s degree in Notarial Law, in accordance with the specifications given in appendix 2 of the order of July 5, 2023, is required for admission to high-level notarial studies in order to obtain the DESN (French post-graduate notary diploma), as governed by the decree of October 7, 2022 and the order of July 5, 2023.
Students with a Master's degree in Notarial Law may continue their studies at the INFN (Institut national des formations notariales).
To obtain the DESN, students must:
- attend and pass 3 training periods (1st period: “The notary, public and ministerial officer”; 2nd period: “The notary, legal expert”; 3rd period: “The notary, entrepreneur”) over a period of 24 months, in principle;
- complete an internship in parallel to the afore-mentioned training periods and obtain an end-of-internship certificate;
- defend an internship report or a research paper, at the latest at the end of the calendar year following the year in which all training periods were successfully completed.
During their post-graduate notarial studies, students may take a gap year, during which the afore-mentioned training is suspended in order for them to acquire additional personal or professional experience. The gap year cannot be divided up and lasts between 6 months and 1 year; it can be granted once only, at the latest before the 3rd training period.
