"Ownership, Control, and Performance"

The “Family Business and Long-Term Investment” Chair at the Université Paris Dauphine-PSL invites submissions for the “Ownership, Control, and Performance” conference. This conference aims to gather empirical economics and finance research papers, enhancing our understanding of how ownership and control structures influence firm behavior, shape market outcomes, and affect broader economic performance. Papers using micro-level data and addressing causal inference in these domains are strongly welcomed. Research that yields insights into the economic and financial implications of family ownership is also specially valued.

We are particularly interested in research papers exploring :

1. Capital Allocation and Innovation

• The influence of ownership concentration and control mechanisms on investment decisions, acquisitions, R&D and innovation.
• How ownership and control affect technology adoption, productivity, and the efficiency of resource allocation.

2. Financial Structure

• Combined effects of ownership and control on financial structure, sources of external financing, risk taking, and financial resilience.
• Comparative analysis of the impacts of ownership and control configurations on financial structures across industries and/or regions.

3. International Expansion and Heterogeneity

• The role of ownership and control in shaping trade strategies, market entry, and global expansion.
• The drivers of diverse ownership and control structures across regions and countries

4. Corporate Social Responsibility Outcomes

• How ownership and control influence wage structures, job stability, and workforce development
• The impact of ownership on labor productivity and resource allocation
• Environmental and social performance.

Submission Guidelines :

Please submit unpublished manuscripts in PDF format by February 1, 2025, at family.business@dauphine.psl.eu Authors will be notified of acceptance by March 1, 2025. Partial contribution for travel expenses is possible but should be requested at the time of submission. There is no conference registration fee.

Event Details :
