"Reach for the stars, but keep your feet on the ground"
I tutored three students from the Consulting and Change Management program over the last two years. Despite their very different backgrounds, these students all had one common denominator, which was a result of their training. When working with our team on change management projects, they each had the mindset of “reaching for the stars” while “keeping your feet on the ground”.
They adopted a cautious approach as apprentice consultants, developing their listening skills and their ability to adapt to the given context. They took on junior-level duties at first, then played a more active consulting role, putting sociological and action-oriented analytical frameworks into practice within their host organizations.
This enabled them to contribute to the success of the workstreams they were involved with, as well as benefiting their academic training.
