Intensive seminars
Seminars are offered to all exchange students and double-degree students at Dauphine. They are subject to tuition fees and take place at the start of each semester.
This week-long Welcome Week seminar will help you improve your French language skills whatever your current level: beginner, intermediate or advanced. You will immerse yourself in French language and culture for 4 hours a day (+ 1 hour online in the evening), in small groups organized by level of proficiency. Classes are interactive and include entertaining activities,
They are designed to strengthen you everyday communication skills in French, better understand French social codes, practices and customs and more generally, enrich your linguistic and cultural knowledge.
The FLE seminar is also a great way get to, meet fellow students, get to know the university and jump start your life at Dauphine!
What is the intensive French as a Foreign Language seminar?
- 24 class hours: 20 hours of in-person classes over 5 days and 4 hours of e-learning to practice and progress on your own
- Small groups organized by level of proficiency, from A1 to C1, make it easy to progress rapidly
- Interactive, fun activities (ex. escape games….)
- There is a final exam, and you receive a certificate of attendance with your grade
- You receive 3 credits ECTS for the seminar if you pass (with a minimum grade of 10/20)
What are the goals of the FLE seminar ?
- Improve your level of proficiency in 4 basic areas: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking and writing.
- Discover different aspects of French culture and society. Learn about and social codes, practices and customs to make it easier to navigate your life here and take full advantage of what the university and the city have to offer.
- Learn how to communicate in a variety of everyday situations: shopping, restaurants, museums, theaters, ordering a taxi, taking the train, meeting people etc.
You can take the intensive Welcome Week French as a Foreign language seminar (3 ECTS) and also take an elective FLE course during the semester (6 ECTS). In fact, we recommend that you do - it’s the best way to maximize your French language skills!

Registration process
Students nominated by their home university will receive an email to fill out their application and choose the courses they'll take at Dauphine. They sign up for the seminar at the same time they sign up for semester-long courses via the online platform. The link is sent to students enrolled for each semester.

Semester-long courses
These courses are available to exchange students and double-degree students at Dauphine. They are free, and each is worth 6 ECTS.
Dauphine students with a first language other than French may audit these courses, but they will not receive credit.
Courses classified by level (Beginner/A1 to C1, in accordance with the CECRL)
- General courses (beginner to A2): Learn the French language through grammar, vocabulary, morphosyntax, and the development of oral and written skills
- Themed courses (levels B1 to C1): Learn the French language (grammar, vocabulary, and morphosyntax) and reinforce oral and written skills through culture, art, society, media, literature, phonetics, theater, and film

Registration Process
Students can sign up for a maximum of 2 FLE courses per semester. Students may select courses based on their level (certified language proficiency or the results from the online test). Students may register for courses at one level below or above their level (e.g. a B1 student may register for A2, B1, or B2 courses).
