After completing an Baccalaureate ES, I spent two years in a preparatory class for the Ecole Normale Supérieur Cachan (ENS Cachan), at the André Boulloche High School in Livry-Gargan (93). Following this preparatory class, I began my studies at Université Paris Dauphine – PSL, in the 3rd year of a Bachelor’s Degree, with a specialization in Wealth Management. It was the only Bachelor's Degree program in France that provided the opportunity to specialize in Wealth Management from the 3rd year.
After completing the 3rd year of this Bachelor’s Degree program, I decided to continue my studies with the Master's Degree program (Wealth Management and Private Banking). The work-study element of the Master’s Degree program gave us the opportunity to put what we had learned over the course of the two years into practice. As a result of this program, I was hired by BNP Paribas, where I had completed my work-study placement.
I remember first and foremost the high quality of the teaching and the instructors’ expertise. We were taught by very experienced university professors, who were experts in their field. We also had the benefit of learning from first-rate industry professionals who were renowned in the field of Wealth Management. It was very important and beneficial to have classes that focused on theory as well as classes that were more geared towards practical application, and closer to what we would encounter in a professional setting.
I also remember the support that was available from the university, on a daily basis. We had a Program Secretary, who helped ensure good communication between professors and students, obtaining all the required information in good time, which meant we could focus on the classes themselves, which was great.
This Master’s Degree program equipped me with a great deal of knowledge, through the high quality of the teaching. I was also able to benefit from a large network of former students who had already joined the working world. Through this, I was able to meet people and build my network. Through working on a vocational training project, I met a Private Banking Manager, which led to a work-study placement.
The Master’s Degree program also provided many other benefits in terms of extracurricular activities, with cultural excursions (a visit to the opera, for example) and trips organized by the university.
After graduating from the Master’s Degree program, I was given a permanent position as a Private Banking Consultant at BNP Paribas (where I had completed my work-study placement). I have now been in that role for 3 years.
I am planning to progress my career with an upcoming move into a financial management specialization. My role will be to deal with clients in the area of Asset Management.

PRIVATE BANKING CONSULTANT – BNP PARIBAS - CLASS OF 2017
After gaining a Science Baccalaureate, I began my studies at Université Paris Dauphine – PSL on the DEGEAD program (Latin American Spanish Track). I chose to start specializing from the 3rd year of the Bachelor's Degree, directing my academic path towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Management – on the Wealth Management program. This Bachelor's Degree year enabled me to gain an in-depth understanding of the subject, while also taking generalist courses. It was a real test of my intention to pursue my studies in this field and of my interest in the subject. Following the Bachelor's Degree, I was naturally drawn to the Master’s Degree in Wealth Management at Université Paris Dauphine – PSL, during which I was supported by ODDO BHF, where I topped off my two-year Master’s Degree with an apprenticeship contract. It is fast-paced, as the week is divided into two: Monday and Tuesday is spent in classes (with intensive study days), and the rest of the week is spent on a work placement. The work-study experience is incredibly valuable, and those who have the opportunity to do it are equipped with solid skills, putting them in a good position when they enter the working world. This is particularly true for Wealth Management, a subject that can be obscure and theoretical at times, but that makes total sense when it is applied instantaneously within a company.
Developing my academic skills, and the simultaneous practical application of those skills within a company, gave me confidence, as well as a clear understanding of the profession, and sufficient experience to be able to take up a position as a Private Banker upon graduating from the Master’s Degree program. The disciplines taught at the University were perfectly in line with what is actually involved in carrying out the role of a Private Banker, which is demonstrated by the hiring rate of graduates from this Master’s Degree program. In terms of my own experience, I was given the opportunity to join the ODDO BHF Group in a permanent role, before I even officially graduated!
VALENTINE DEMAISON
PRIVATE BANKER, ODDO BHF - CLASS OF 2018
I began with a Bachelor's Degree in International Law, followed by the 1st year of a Master’s Degree in International Business Law at the Sorbonne. I then spent a year of my studies in Australia and gained an LLM at Melbourne Law School, with a major in International Tax and Finance Law. Following that, I began the second year of the Master’s Degree in Wealth Management and Private Banking at Dauphine in 2015.
I was immediately won over by the atmosphere of the program, as well as the high standard of the teaching faculty. The teaching, together with my work-study program, gave me a solid understanding of both theory and practice, which would equip me to fulfil the requirements of my first job. I also met people on the Master’s Degree program who I continue to come into contact with professionally on a regular basis.
After graduating, I took up a temporary position at the company where I had done my work-study placement. I then joined Hottinguer Bank in January 2017, as a Private Banker. I built a network of business agent contacts, which helped me to establish a client base. I was responsible for managing the money orders for these clients across all financial asset classes. In January 2019, I was promoted to the position of Business Development Director at the Bank. I am in charge of a team of 5 people, working on developing a client base of intermediate clients and building partnerships. We are also charged with the Bank’s communications.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR AT HOTTINGUER BANK - CLASS OF 2016
I began my academic studies with two years in the ENS-Cachan D2 preparatory class, which I combined with two years of a Bachelor's Degree in Economics at Pantheon-Sorbonne University.
After completing this advanced training in Economics, I began the 3rd year of a Bachelor's Degree at the Wealth Management Institute at Université Paris Dauphine – PSL.
During my Master’s Degree in Wealth Management and Private Banking, I gained a solid foundation in Finance and concepts relating to high-level banking techniques, thanks to the many instructors (which included both professors and industry professionals) and the varied teaching.
Université Paris Dauphine – PSL encouraged me to undertake several enlightening and rewarding internships, at LCL Banque Privée (a private investment company), Lazard Frères Gestion and CA Indosuez Wealth, as well as an exciting work-study placement at Edmond de Rothschild.
Gaining multiple experiences within a professional context enabled me to put my theoretical, financial and legal knowledge into practice, and to develop this knowledge further.
During the final year of the Master’s Degree, I was offered a temporary position at Lazard Frères Gestion, working within the Relationship Management department, in Private Banking.
I was already familiar with this company, as I had completed a previous internship there, so I immediately accepted and began working there in July 2016 (before I had even graduated!).
I have gone on to flourish within my role ever since!
