Association and Student Life
The Investment Banking and Markets (BIM) association brings together all the program’s students and therefore refreshes each year with each new cohort. Its board consists of a president, a vice-president, a treasurer, and a secretary.
The association is responsible for representing the program, organizing events throughout the year, and maintaining the alumni network of “Bimeurs” across its different cohorts.
In 2008-2009, the association set up the processes for its future operations (creating statutes, officially registering its existence, facilitating the payment of membership fees, etc.), as well as establishing:
- The inaugural lesson on the future of investment banking, chaired by the cohort sponsor,
- The start-of-the-year welcome weekend to encourage a sense of cohesion among the cohort,
- The student portion of the program website, with space for student CVs,
- A presentation about corporate and investment banking professions for BIM applicants,
- Student polo shirts,
- The annual trip to England.

The Inaugural Lesson
A Sponsor for Each Cohort
Every year, BIM students organize the inaugural lesson, which is presided over by the cohort’s sponsor, a big name from the world of investment banking. The sponsor gives a speech on a current issue pertaining to the future of investment banking.
In 2018, Mr. Samir Assaf, CEO Global Banking and Markets at HSBC, gave the inaugural lesson.
“The Transition to Digital and the Challenges it Poses to Banking and Financial Institutions”
This event is for all investment banking professionals, as well as finance faculty and students.
The inaugural lesson is followed by a reception that gives Bimeurs the opportunity to network with their cohort sponsor. Students (who might be potential applicants) can also get their questions answered.
