Academic Training Year 2024 - 2025 - subject to modification

Teaching Modalities

The program consists of a collection of courses, seminars, and practicums spread out over the period between September and the beginning of April. A portion of the instruction is provided in English. The goal of the theoretical courses is to provide students with the solid grounding in theory required to succeed in a research-based teaching environment. The goal of the methods courses is to strengthen students' ability to analyze empirical phenomena using various scientific approaches. Seminars provide an opportunity to tackle various issues faced by businesses via theoretical interventions that shine a light on both analytical perspectives and managerial methods. The practicums provide students with an opportunity to both advance their research for the thesis and apply what they have learned in class to consulting situations.

The program allows participants to:

  • Gain a solid grounding in theory and methods
  • Take advantage of a seminar series on management problems to choose the areas they wish to research further
  • Apply their knowledge to practical professional situations such as consulting work
  • Engage in research-based learning by taking courses grounded in the major research works of each domain
  • Engage in research-based learning by producing an ambitious research project that is designed to produce new knowledge

The goal of the research project is to make the student the specialist in their chosen area of study. Under the guidance of a researcher affiliated with the program, students can choose their research subject from the main program themes and find the supporting theory to enable them to create new knowledge. The goal of the research project is to prepare students for future doctoral study and develop their expertise so that they can become an expert in a given area.

Internships and Supervised Projects

In addition to the courses and seminars on offer, students have a variety of opportunities to improve their employment prospects:

  • Once classes are over, students can undertake an internship (maximum six months' duration). This internship must be related to the topics covered in the program.
  • The “Trophée Stratégie” provides students with the opportunity to conduct a study for a “client” company (historically Total, PSA, Danone, and CDC, but the companies change from year to year) under the guidance of the McKinsey research division.
  • Consulting opportunities are available (on a volunteer basis)
