Graduate program in Social Sciences
Program Objectives
The Graduate program in Social Sciences offers a multidisciplinary course of higher studies and research from Master's degree to PhD, at the crossroads of social sciences. Located alongside the Interdisciplinary Research Institute in Social Sciences (IRISSO) laboratories, and the Maurice Halbwachs center, operating in close synergy with the EHESS, in particular the laboratories of the Sorbonne’s European center for sociology and political science (CESSP) and the Center for the study of social movements (CEMS), the Graduate program includes three Master's degrees that place the student at the heart of research. It offers engaging courses that strengthen cross-disciplinary skills and enrich the students’ experiences.
Program objectives:
- Administer multidisciplinary classes in sociology, political science, social history, anthropology, economic sociology and urban planning.
- Create an international dimension in Social Science
- Teach students about evolving knowledge through research and research training seminars
- Offer international experience via exchange agreements and numerous opportunities to learn in English

Support System for the Graduate Program
From the 1st year of the master’s degree to their integration into the world of work, several measures are put in place to help and supervise students, and PhD students after they have completed their thesis:
- Writing residency (only for PhD students)
- Financing of fields, especially remote ones (For PhD students, and 1st and 2nd year master’s degree students)
- Financing of translations and editing of texts in English
- Financing of participation to international colloquiums (PhD students, 1st and 2nd year master’s degree students)
- Financing of training courses abroad (PhD students, 1st and 2nd year master's degree students): Summer Schools/ Semester abroad
- Coverage of access costs to statistical surveys via the CASD
