After the Master in Public Law’ first year, what specializations are available for a Master’s year 2 at the Université Paris Dauphine-PSL?

After the first year of the Master’s in Public Law, students may choose among several second-year programs (M2), offered either as full-time study or through a work-study format. Before entering the M2, they may take a gap year, if permitted by their academic path, to gain professional experience in France or abroad (for example, at ENAP – the National School of Public Administration in Canada), through an internship, fixed-term contract, civic service, entrepreneurship, or additional training.

The partnership with ENAP allows students enrolled in the Master’s in Public Law to spend a year in Canada, leading to the award of a DESS (Specialized Graduate Diploma) in Public Administration and a professional internship in Canada.

In the second year of the Master’s program, students select a specialization to refine their expertise and strengthen their professional profile. They benefit from high-level instruction delivered by Dauphine’s faculty members as well as by external contributors from the business world and senior public administration (such as members of the Council of State, parliamentary administrators, and administrative judges).

Finally, students may complete a work-study placement as early as the first year (M1) and must do so in the second year (M2), within various sectors of public administration: the Paris Prefecture, Ministries, Museums, the Senate, the City of Paris, law firms, or administrative courts. The work-study format significantly enhances both rapid career placement and success in competitive civil service examinations. Dauphine graduates thus enjoy a very high rate of professional integration.

For those pursuing the research-oriented Master’s track, the second year is devoted to developing their research project, providing optimal preparation for doctoral studies.
