Master - Public Policies

Program Objectives

The Master's degree in Public Policies provides training in the tools and methods of the social sciences applied to the fields of public
policy, surveys and opinion polls, urban policies, the social and solidarity economy, and corporate social and environmental responsibility, research and higher education.

It also prepares students for the A+ and A-level competitive exams for the civil service.

Objectives of the program:

  • Acquire a thorough mastery of the qualitative and quantitative methods of social sciences.
  • Develop an excellent knowledge of companies and administrations at local, national and international levels.
  • Provide opportunities in research and higher education in the social sciences thanks to an affiliation with the research unit IRISSO (Institut de Recherche Interdisciplinaire en Sciences Sociales).
  • A multidisciplinary programme of excellence in the social sciences (sociology and political science).
  • The Master's programme offers early specialisation from the first year (M1), with further advanced specialisation in the second year (M2) through four study tracks: Public Service Careers and Competitive Examinations (CPGC), Corporate Policies and Social Responsibility (PERS), Public Policy and Public Opinion (PPO), and Urban Policy and Territorial Governance (PUGT).
  • The PERS, PPO and PUGT tracks provide students with an in-depth command of the qualitative and quantitative methods used to analyse and design public policies, corporate policies and urban policies.
  • The CPGC track offers comprehensive preparation for French civil service competitive examinations. It equips students for both Category A and A+ public service entrance examinations while developing practical skills directly applicable in public administrations, local authorities and public institutions.
  • A strong professional focus and well-established partnerships. Most students complete an internship during both the first and second years of the programme. In addition, the Master's offers the opportunity to take a gap year between M1 and M2. The programme also benefits from close links with leading public and private sector organisations through external lecturers, alumni and professional partners.
  • A gateway to research and doctoral studies. Affiliated with the IRISSO research laboratory, the Master's enables students who wish to pursue an academic path to develop research skills in the social sciences (sociology and political science) and prepares them for doctoral studies.

When you enroll in a Master's program, you also join Université PSL. Ranked in the top 50 universities in the world (THE and QS), PSL offers excellent graduate programs at the Master's and PhD level, which benefit from the scientific capabilities of its member institutions. Dauphine in Their Own Words

Martin AUDRAN
Research Officer at the Phare Agency

Your path : Master's Degree in Public Policy and Opinion

“After a Master's degree in Corporate Policy and Social Responsibility at Dauphine and a gap year during which I performed community service, I was looking for a program that would offer both an in-depth content on all public policies and a more practical training on the methodological tools of social sciences. This double expectation corresponded perfectly with the content proposed by the Master 2 Public Policy and Opinion.”

Laetitia CUIGNET
Responsible for study follow-up at the Ministry of Economy and Finance

Your path : Public Policy and Opinion track

“After a degree in Law and Political Science at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, I joined Dauphine in Master 1, where I then naturally turned towards Public Policy and Opinion. The great interest of this course is the balance in the curriculum between qualitative and quantitative methods. In a world that is traditionally quantitative, I could feel the advantage of having this dual perspective, and this conceptual and methodological distance.”

Abigail VACHER
Study Manager at the CSA Institute

Your path : Public Policy and Opinion track

“This course combines the learning of theoretical and methodological knowledge in sociology and political science, with the delivery of sound knowledge on sectoral policies and analysis of public action and opinion. I really enjoyed the combination of the professional and research tracks.”

Nathan BARDIN
Project Manager at the Groupe SOS

Your path : Public policies track

“Why Dauphine? It is an excellent university that allows you to specialize little by little, and to discover different subjects and sectors as you go along. An intense associative life (cultural, sporting, festive, pro) and a network that is built gradually, which is really important today.”
